Why Your English isn’t Improving ?

Welcome back friends to PrimeTech 18. This post is all about several reasons why your English speaking ability is not improving even though you learn from online contents and English book.
Today all most everyone wants to speak English because English is a global language, if you see around yourself you will find that English speaking is very important to get admission in top colleges and universities as every educational institute teaches in English cause all most every modern science, mathematics and other books are written in English. And even when you go for a job interview your English speaking ability is also tested with other qualities.
English is a language which is quite easy to learn and implement if you work smart and practise all most everyday what you learn each day. The best way to learn English is to try to speak in English with everyone no matter you speak write or wrong, have conversations with your elders and always participate in Group Discussions.
I can give you more ways and contents to learn English easily but this post is about reasons why your English isn’t improving.

A lot of people feel that after learning from many years, they see no improvement and feel disappointed. They are where they started. I am sure you may have experienced it too. It’s quite disheartening because you attempted many years and no result. Well there are a lot of reasons for this, but we discuss seven of them.

Reason 1: You don’t spend enough time on it.
Now when you are learning a new language you need to understand that it requires your time every single day. Well I do understand that you are busy enough, you have busy schedule, you have projects and all your hours are preoccupied, leaving you exhausted and when you come home you just want to get into the bed. Only Saturday and Sunday you have time for learning English. But if really want to learn English you must cut some time from your daily routine for English. Trust me if you start early, it will be very helpful in coming future.
So, remember take out some time from your routine and give it to learning English and you will see big improvement in your English speaking ability.
Reason 2: You are too passive about learning English
You might be thinking what passive means well it’s exactly the opposite of active. Alright, so you cannot be lazy and hoping that you can learn English or any language probably just by listening. Yes, that could help you a lot but speaking is form of active learning. Okay, so you have to speak the language every single day. Now you may come up to me actually a lot of people do and say that we don’t have enough friends or probably family members don’t speak English. That’s not an excuse. What you need to do is talk to yourself. No big deal, look into the mirror talk to yourself about anything it could be an incident, experience of the day and may it could be weekends plans. But you need to talk even with yourself to learn it fluently. So you need to practise, practise and active not passive.
Reason 3: You don’t review and revise what you have learned
Well it is the one of the most important things you need to do in the process of learning language. Okay, say you come across a new word but don’t meaning of it, you just say I will go home and find it out but you don’t, days past, weeks past. And the next time you read that word you almost forgotten. That’s because you didn’t review. So, when you learned something new, to register it in your mind make sure you review because the sense of signal to the brain that you need to remember this because this is really important. So, remember always review what you have learned
Reason 4: You rely on your native language too much
Now while you are leaning English sometimes you do need translations to understand, say for example a passage that you have just read in English. Now your native language helps to understand what you read in English. But that doesn’t give you practise to speak the language. And when you get to use to translating so the next time you try to construct a sentence probably you just thinking in your native language, yeah you try to translate only to speak a sentence. That is completely wrong and that’s because there is a difference in the rule of both the languages. So, never try to translate while you are speaking. Leave your native language for a while and just concentrate on speaking English. So to speak fluently and learn English do not rely on your native language too much.
Reason 5: You are always focused on your mistakes
Now off course the entire process of learning means making mistakes and then correcting them. Right, but sometimes we focus so much on mistakes obviously you like to where you are going wrong and where you make mistakes so you can rectify them but you need to understand that don’t always focus on mistakes because that’s gonna drain out your confidence and leave you feeling really very shy. So, what I am trying so that when you try to speak in front of someone you will think ten times that what if I am wrong, what if I make a mistake, what if people laugh. And gone your entire confidence is down. And then you gonna fee really shy, you gonna get nervous and you are back to stage one. So, don’t do that, don’t always focus on mistakes go ahead and speak confidently.
Reason 6: You don’t put things in context nor implement
Now say you have learned a new word, you open up a dictionary you know the meaning, you registered it in your mind and that’s it. You just know the meaning but you really don’t know how to use that word in a sentence, so where’s the context. So, just learning a new word and its meaning is not sufficient for learning English. So, always understand how to put things in context, probably how they fit in a sentence and practise it. So, don’t have just collections of words you should also know how to implement them and put them in context to speak fluently.
Reason 7: You’ve advanced a bit in English
Probably when you started learning English, you struggled enough in your initial periods and you have learned the most common words and expressions that enabled you to speak fluently. So, now you moved into a territory where there are less common words and less common expressions. So, the learning process has now become slow and steady. So, it’s just natural to feel that you are not learning. Well I have a good news for you, yes you are learning and you are improving. So, continue learning those new words and new expressions. And I am sure that your English will improve.

So, these are the seven common reasons probably you are not able to improve your English. Identify which ones is yours and work on it. And I am sure your English will improve. I wish you good luck. I will be back soon with a new topic.
